3-Day Private Desert Journey from Fes to Merzouga & Todgha Gorges

Your adventure begins in the early morning as we leave Fes and head south toward Morocco’s changing landscapes. The urban scenery slowly gives way to fresh mountain air and open roads. We pass through Ifrane, a quiet town with a European feel, before continuing into the cedar-covered hills near Azrou, where wild monkeys often appear among the trees.
As the journey continues, the land opens into wide plains dotted with small Berber communities. We stop in around Midelt for lunch, surrounded by mountains that mark the gateway to the south. In the afternoon, the road becomes narrower and more scenic as we travel through remote valleys and rocky terrain rarely seen by casual travelers.
By late afternoon, we arrive at Todgha Canyon, where vertical rock walls rise dramatically above a flowing river. After time to relax or walk through the gorge, dinner and overnight stay take place in a comfortable local hotel.

After breakfast, enjoy a calm morning in the canyon before continuing eastward through desert villages and palm-lined roads. Passing through Tinjdad, you’ll notice traces of ancient water systems hidden beneath the ground—proof of how locals once survived in this arid land.
As the scenery becomes more desert-like, the first golden dunes appear on the horizon. Upon arrival in Merzouga, you are welcomed with traditional mint tea before beginning a camel ride across the sands. The slow rhythm of the camels allows you to fully experience the vast silence of the Sahara as the sun sets behind the dunes.
In the evening, reach your desert camp deep in the dunes. Dinner is served under the stars, followed by live Berber drums around the fire. Overnight in a private tent with modern comforts.

An early wake-up offers a breathtaking sunrise as the desert colors shift with the light. After breakfast, return by camel to Merzouga village and continue north.
The journey passes through Rissani and Erfoud, regions known for their fossil-rich land shaped millions of years ago. Driving through the Ziz Oasis, endless palm trees line the valley, creating a striking contrast with the surrounding desert.

After a lunch stop in Midelt, we cross the Middle Atlas Mountains once more, enjoying the final scenic views before arriving back in Fes in the late afternoon, where your desert experience comes to an end.
